Traditional Service

Tune in LIVE now!

Join us for the Traditional Service at Hope

From traditional Lutheran liturgy to liturgical colors on the altar and robe-wearing pastors, Hope’s Traditional Service includes classic organ-led hymns, special choir, orchestra and brass ensembles, and weekly Holy Communion.

Sundays, 9:00 am
Hope West Des Moines Chapel

Set in Hope’s Chapel, the service meets every Sunday at 9:00 am and is livestreamed on YouTube. Services begin with instrumental or vocal musical ensembles to help worshipers experience the truth and love of Jesus Christ, followed by traditional liturgy from “the green book” – the Lutheran Book of Worship – followed by the Gospel reading, a live-preached sermon, weekly communion and classic hymns. Worshipers are invited to enjoy breakfast after the service in The Bridge.

Be Part of Worship

The Hope Orchestra, the Chapel Brass, and the Adoration Choir each perform regularly at the Traditional Service. If you are interested in serving on any of these ensembles, please fill out this opportunity form or learn more about choirs and music groups here. Lay ministers help preside during the liturgy and volunteers serve communion each week. If you’d like to help with worship, let us know!

Advent Questions

The season of Advent is filled with waiting and anticipation. We wait and anticipate the celebration of Christmas Eve—the reality that God sent his son, Jesus, into the world. We also wait and anticipate the promise that he will come again! The season of Advent can also be filled with a lot of questions. This Advent, we will dive into questions about this season that impact our everyday lives. Questions about the Christmas blues, prophecy, peace, and joy. Join Hope this Advent as we prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the greatest gift we have ever received—Jesus.
