Building Hope for Tomorrow
“Building Hope for Tomorrow” is all about mission and outreach. We’re building and renovating holy spaces to share the spiritually-refreshing and soul-renewing power and light of God’s amazing love with our neighbors and the world around us. As a mission church after God’s own heart, we want to discover what God can do through us (not just for us) for the sake of the world. That’s why we’re “Building Hope for Tomorrow” …
Jesus said, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” Matthew 6:21
Over $20 million has already been given (our 1-time offerings) or pledged (our 3-year commitments) to “Building Hope for Tomorrow” in West Des Moines, with over $34 million in total offering and pledges at all Hope campuses … far exceeding our highest giving goals!
As a result, and as our giving commitments are fulfilled, we will soon begin construction on a new outreach center, food pantry, community teen center, and other holy spaces for our community to gather, connect, work, play, and pray here at Hope. Praise God and thank you, Lutheran Church of Hope, for your overflowing generosity!

Building Hope for Tomorrow Updates
April 2025
During our Easter services, we had the incredible blessing of breaking ground together as a church family! Moments filled with prayer, gratitude and anticipation for all that’s ahead at Hope! We’re committed to being a church after God’s own heart, and this next chapter is all about creating holy spaces that continue to reflect that.
With the initial groundbreaking taking place, prayers and Bible verses written by thousands of Hopesters poured into the holes that were dug (literally Building Hope for Tomorrow on God’s Word and prayers from our church family) … Phase One is officially underway! Construction crews moved in the Monday after Easter and quickly got to work, starting in the former Gym on the lower level. It is already so exciting to see the progress being made each day, and we look forward to continuing to update you on that progress in the months ahead. Thank you for joining us in prayer for this project!
*Please note: as construction crews work on various parts of the building, please know that certain hallways and entrances may be closed. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your grace! God is up to something big here at Hope and we are so excited!
Our architect is finalizing plans, and starting the week after Easter, building renovations will begin! First up: moving the bookstore, opening up space for a new prayer cove, and adding much needed classrooms. Soon after, we’ll start planting the new Hope Community Garden, and open a new food pantry at Hope. Still to come, new Family Rooms in the Worship Center, a new Hope Outreach Bus, outdoor recreational courts, and a prayer trail. A new Youth & Mission Outreach Center will be added as soon as our financial pledges to Building Hope for Tomorrow are fulfilled, as we will be doing all these renovations and additions without any loans or interest payments — thank you for your generosity in building holy spaces to better serve and love our neighbors as an outreach church after God’s own heart!
